Project Engineer (Marine Construction)
About the job Project Engineer (Marine Construction)
Key Responsibilities (depending on experience level)
Project Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute marine/offshore/construction projects including diving operations, MRO works, and structural repairs
- Develop project schedules, work packs, method statements, and resource plans
- Ensure alignment with contract scope, technical specifications, and client requirements
- Monitor progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines and budget
Site Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate daily site activities including divers, ROV teams, rigging crews, and subcontractors
- Liaise with vessel crews, and shipyards platforms
- Ensure proper mobilization and demobilization of equipment and manpower
- Conduct site briefings, toolbox meetings, and progress reviews
Health, Safety & Compliance (Critical)
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, diving regulations, and permit-to-work systems
- Enforce safe work practices for underwater and high-risk operations
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments (RA), Method Statements (MS)
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
Technical & Engineering Support
- Review engineering drawings, structural details, and inspection reports
- Support underwater inspection, NDT, and repair methodologies
- Coordinate fabrication, installation, and testing works
- Ensure compliance with class societies (e.g., ABS, DNV) and defence standards where applicable
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary interface with clients, consultants, and authorities
- Provide project updates, reports, and technical clarifications
- Manage subcontractors and vendor performance
Cost Control & Commercial Awareness
- Monitor project costs, variations, and claims
- Support procurement of materials, equipment, and services
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower and resources
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation including daily reports, inspection logs, and as-built records
- Prepare progress reports, completion dossiers, and handover documents
- Ensure proper record-keeping for audits and compliance
Requirements
Must-Have (Core Requirements)
- Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Basic understanding of construction or site operations
- Willingness to work on-site (marine environment, shipyard, coastal areas)
- Strong awareness of workplace safety
Good to Have (Not Mandatory)

- Experience in marine construction (e.g., piling, quay wall, jetty, dredging works)
- Familiarity with marine equipment (e.g., barges, cranes, piling rigs)
- Knowledge of HSE practices (RA, MS, permit-to-work)
- Ability to read construction drawings and technical specifications
