We are seeking an experienced Senior Marine Electrician to join our team in the shipyards of San Diego. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in marine electrical systems, with a strong focus on installation, maintenance, and repair work.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Maintenance:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on various types of marine vessels, including commercial, military, and recreational ships.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including short circuits, faulty wiring, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace defective electrical components, such as wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers.
  • System Upgrades and Modifications:
  • Upgrade and modify existing electrical systems to meet new specifications or improve performance.
  • Install new electrical systems and components according to technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct safety checks and tests on installed systems to guarantee operational safety.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs and repair reports.
  • Provide detailed reports on electrical system status and recommend necessary actions or improvements.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Mentor and guide junior electricians, providing technical assistance and training as needed.
  • Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Marine Electrician, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of marine electrical systems, including AC and DC systems, navigation equipment, and communication systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to marine electrical work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses in marine electrical work are preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications are a plus.
