The Tax Officer is responsible for managing and ensuring full compliance of all tax obligations of the school in accordance with Indonesian tax regulations. This role covers tax calculation, withholding, reporting, and filing for all applicable taxes, while also providing support to expatriate staff in fulfilling their annual individual tax reporting obligations through the Coretax system. The Tax Officer ensures accurate documentation, timely submission, and alignment with internal financial controls and organizational policies, supporting transparency and regulatory compliance within an international school environment.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

1. Tax Calculation & Compliance
a. Calculate, prepare, and review all applicable taxes, including but not limited to PPh 21, PPh 23,PPh 4(2), PPh 26, VAT/PPN, and other relevant taxes.
b. Ensure correct tax treatment for local and expatriate staff, vendors, consultants, and service providers.
c. Review accounting transactions to ensure accurate tax classification and proper tax base calculation.
d. Ensure compliance with prevailing Indonesian tax laws, regulations, and Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) requirements.
e. Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely tax payments and submissions to avoid penalties and interest.
2. Tax Reporting, Filing & Coretax
a. Prepare and submit monthly and annual tax returns (SPT Masa and SPT Tahunan) accurately and on time.
b. Generate, issue, and manage tax documents such as e-Bupot, e-Faktur, withholding tax slips, and tax payment proofs.
c. Support expatriate staff in the preparation and submission of annual individual income tax returns (SPT Tahunan Orang Pribadi) through the Coretax system, including guidance on required documents and timelines.
d. Coordinate with HR and expatriate employees to ensure accuracy of income, benefits, and tax data used for Coretax reporting.
e. Maintain proper reconciliation between tax filings, payroll records, Coretax data, and accounting records.
3. Coordination with Internal & External Parties
a. Coordinate with Accounting, Finance, HR, and Procurement teams to ensure tax compliance across all transactions.
b. Work closely with HR on payroll tax, benefits-in-kind, expatriate taxation, and staff tax-related matters.
c. Liaise with tax consultants, external auditors, and tax authorities during audits, inspections, or inquiries.
d. Provide tax clarification and guidance to internal stakeholders and expatriate staff when required.
4. Tax Control, Audit & Risk Management
a. Conduct periodic tax reviews to identify potential risks, discrepancies, or non-compliance issues.
b. Prepare tax reconciliations between general ledger, payroll, Coretax data, and tax filings.
c. Assist during tax audits by preparing required documents, explanations, and supporting schedules.
d. Implement and maintain strong tax controls to minimize exposure to tax risks and penalties.
5. Documentation, Systems & Process Improvement
a. Maintain orderly, accurate, and complete tax documentation in both physical and digital filing systems.
b. Ensure adherence to internal finance policies, SOPs, and Clean Desk Policy at all times.
c. Support the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of accounting and tax systems, including Coretax.
d. Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and proactively recommend process or policy adjustments.
e. Escalate complex or unclear tax matters to Senior Accounting Officer, Finance Manager, or CFO as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum Diploma/Bachelors degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field.
2. At least 3–5 years of experience in tax compliance or taxation role (experience in education, non-profit, or international organization preferred).
3. Strong knowledge of Indonesian tax regulations, including PPh 21, PPh 23, PPh 26, VAT/PPN, and other relevant tax rules.
4. Familiar with Coretax system, including support for annual individual tax reporting (SPT Tahunan Orang Pribadi), particularly for expatriate employees.
5. Familiar with tax systems such as e-Faktur, e-Bupot, DJP Online, and related tax applications.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Tally, Zoho, SAP, or similar).
7. Good written and verbal communication skills in Indonesian and English.
8. High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
9. Integrity, accountability, and ability to handle confidential financial and tax information.
10. Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to a multicultural, international school environment.
11. Willing to work full-time on-site and flexible during peak tax reporting periods (month-end, year-end, tax season, or audit).
