Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR functions within the mining operation, ensuring workforce effectiveness, compliance with labor laws, and alignment with organizational goals. This role plays a critical part in managing a diverse workforce in often remote or high-risk environments, supporting safety culture, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labor.
  • Manage end-to-end hiring processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate manpower planning based on project and operational needs.

2. Employee Relations

  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and ensure employee well-being.
  • Handle disciplinary actions and grievance procedures.

3. Compliance & Labor Law Management

  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, mining regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
  • Liaise with government authorities, unions, and regulatory bodies when required.

4. Training & Development

  • Identify training needs and implement development programs.
  • Promote safety training and ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.

5. Compensation & Benefits

  • Design and manage compensation structures suitable for mining operations.
  • Administer payroll, benefits, and incentives (including hardship or remote site allowances).
  • Conduct salary benchmarking and performance reviews.

6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Support

  • Collaborate with HSE teams to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure employees are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Support incident investigations from an HR perspective.

7. Performance Management

  • Implement performance appraisal systems.
  • Monitor employee productivity and engagement.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance improvement plans.

8. HR Operations & Reporting

  • Oversee HR administration and HRIS systems.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics for senior management.
  • Manage HR budgets and resource allocation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8-12+ years of HR experience, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and industrial relations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in remote or site-based environments is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and diverse workforce dynamics.

Work Environment

  • Site-based role, often in remote or rugged locations.
  • Requires frequent interaction with operational teams and field workers.
  • May involve travel between mining sites and corporate offices.
