Our client is a leading healthcare manufacturing group operating in a fast-growing and dynamic segment. They are currently seeking a Procurement Section Head to oversee end-to-end procurement, supplier management, and warehouse operations at their manufacturing site in Sumatera, Indonesia.

This role is open exclusively for expatriate professionals, with a preference for candidates with South Asia experience due to internal collaboration requirements and market familiarity.

About the Role

The Procurement Section Head will lead a large procurement and warehouse team (approximately 2530 people) and will report directly to the Head of Commercial. The role requires close coordination with senior leadership, engineering, operations, and supply-chain departments.
This position is based full-time at the production facility with a Monday to Friday and Saturday (half-day) schedule.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee all general procurement activities with a focus on optimizing pricing, vendor terms, and cost efficiency.
  2. Lead capital and expansion procurement initiatives, acting as the liaison between engineering/operations teams and suppliers.
  3. Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure ethical and compliant procurement processes.
  4. Ensure suppliers are properly qualified, vetted, and periodically audited in line with internal standards.
  5. Manage all aspects of warehouse, stores, and customs operations to maintain efficient material flow.
  6. Drive continuous improvement across procurement, supplier management, and supply-chain processes.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree required; Masters degree (preferably MBA) is an advantage.
  2. Currently serving as a Procurement Section Head or acting as second-in-command in a similar leadership role.
  3. Minimum 15 years of procurement experience within a complex manufacturing environment (medical device or high-precision engineering experience is an advantage).
  4. Proven leadership track record with quantifiable achievements in procurement optimization and team management.
  5. Strong proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., Oracle) and ability to collaborate with IT on system enhancements.
  6. Excellent communication skills (spoken and written) and strong command of Excel and Word.
  7. Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving capabilities.
  8. Open only for expatriate professionals, preferably with relevant South Asia exposure for smoother internal alignment.
