Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Superintendent

Location: Jambi, Indonesia

Work Arrangement:

Local roster: 10 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Expatriate roster: 6 months on / leave rotation

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer – Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing all mechanical engineering activities at site, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical systems. This role operates at a management level, providing technical leadership, supervising teams, and making key operational decisions to support project and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the mechanical engineering team on-site, ensuring compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Make technical and operational decisions related to mechanical systems, equipment performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure mechanical works are executed according to engineering drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
  • Monitor project progress, manpower allocation, and equipment utilization to meet schedule and cost targets.
  • Coordinate with other departments (operations, electrical, civil, HSE, procurement) to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Review and approve technical reports, method statements, and maintenance plans.
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site.
  • Provide mentoring and performance evaluation for mechanical team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in industrial, mining, power plant, oil & gas, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Minimum management or superintendent-level experience, with proven ability to lead teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and site operations.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, supervision, and decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and take responsibility for operational outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills for coordination with internal teams and management.

  • Willing to be based in Jambi under a roster system (local or expatriate).
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Physically and mentally fit for site-based work.
  • Proficient in reporting and basic engineering documentation.
