Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of setting up collections infrastructure from scratch, writing and implementing effective collection policies, and building robust systems to minimize loss rates. The Collections Manager will be responsible for developing innovative and professional collection approaches and strategies, ensuring compliance, and achieving collection targets.

What Will You Do?:

1. Collections Infrastructure Setup:

- Design and establish a comprehensive collections infrastructure from the ground up.

- Develop and implement scalable collection systems, processes, and workflows to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

- Identify and integrate appropriate technology and tools to support collection activities.

2. Policy Development and Implementation:

- Draft, review, and implement collection policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements.

- Ensure that all collection activities comply with legal standards and ethical practices.

- Continuously evaluate and update collection policies to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory environments.

- Help in automating the collections procedures

3. Collections Strategy:

- Develop and execute innovative and influential collection strategies to minimize delinquency rates and maximize recovery.

- Implement segment-specific collection approaches to cater to different customer profiles and risk levels.

- Analyze collection data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

4. Team Management and Development:

- Recruit, train, and manage a team of collection agents and support staff.

- Set performance targets, monitor team performance, and provide regular feedback and coaching.

- Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.

5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

- Track and analyze key collection metrics, such as delinquency, recovery, and loss rates.

- Prepare and present regular reports on collection activities, performance, and outcomes to senior management.

- Utilize data analytics to identify patterns, assess risk, and inform strategic decision-making.

6. Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Work closely with other departments, including Risk, Legal, Customer Service, and Finance, to ensure a cohesive approach to collections.

- Engage with external stakeholders, such as collection agencies and legal firms, as needed.

- Maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing their concerns and resolving disputes professionally.

7. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in collections.

- Experiment with and implement new strategies and technologies to stay ahead in the collections field.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field. A masters degree is a plus.
  • Proficient in Local language and English
  • 5-7 years of experience in collections management, preferably in unsecured consumer lending.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up collections infrastructure and systems from scratch.
  • In-depth knowledge of collection policies, procedures, debt collection law, and regulatory requirements.
