Job Title: Senior Mineralogist

Location: West Kalimantan, Indonesia

Our client is a leading multinational coal mining company primarily involved in coal mining operations in Kalimantan.

Role Summary

The Senior Mineralogist will play a key technical role in supporting exploration, resource evaluation, and processing optimization for critical mineral projects. This position requires strong hands-on experience in mineralogical characterization, with bauxite and related aluminum-bearing minerals being highly advantageous. The role will work closely with geology, mining, metallurgy, and processing teams to ensure accurate mineralogical inputs for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed mineralogical studies to support exploration, resource definition, and mine development.
  • Perform and interpret mineral characterization using techniques such as XRD, XRF, optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, and other relevant methods.
  • Provide mineralogical inputs to support beneficiation, refining, and processing flowsheet development, particularly for bauxite and associated critical minerals.
  • Collaborate with geology, mining, and metallurgical teams to optimize ore quality, blending strategies, and recovery.
  • Support due diligence, technical reporting, and feasibility studies (Scoping, PFS, FS).
  • Interpret mineralogical variability and its impact on processing performance and product quality.
  • Ensure all technical work complies with company standards, Indonesian regulations, and international best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mineralogy, Geology, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
  • English is important.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in mineralogy within mining or mineral processing operations.
  • Strong technical understanding of critical minerals, with hands-on bauxite experience being highly preferred.
  • Proven experience with laboratory techniques and mineralogical data interpretation.
  • Experience working in tropical laterite or similar geological environments is an advantage.
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Willingness to be based on-site or on a 9:2 roster in West Kalimantan.
