About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Finance ERP & Controls Manager who will act as the bridge between Finance, Operations, IT, and ERP Development teams. The role holder will be responsible for validating end-to-end accounting logic, financial transactions, costing methodologies, inventory valuation mechanisms, process controls, and ERP configurations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

The role requires deep involvement in existing ERP enhancements and future ERP implementation projects. The incumbent will work at a detailed transactional level, understanding business processes from source transactions through to financial statement impact.

This position is critical in ensuring that ERP-driven financial information is accurate, reliable, auditable, and aligned with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

ERP Finance Governance & Development

  • Lead finance participation in ERP enhancement and implementation projects.
  • Review and validate ERP business requirements from a finance perspective.
  • Work closely with ERP developers, IT teams, consultants, and users to ensure proper system design.
  • Translate accounting and business requirements into ERP functional specifications.
  • Perform detailed User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for finance-related developments.
  • Ensure ERP configurations comply with accounting principles and internal control requirements.
  • Support ERP rollout, upgrades, and post-implementation reviews.

Accounting Logic Validation

  • Review accounting treatments embedded within ERP processes.
  • Validate automated journal entries generated by the ERP.
  • Assess debit-credit logic at transaction level.
  • Ensure correct mapping between operational transactions and accounting entries.
  • Validate financial implications of every major system enhancement before deployment.
  • Verify compliance with IFRS, Group Accounting Policies, and local statutory requirements.

Inventory & Valuation Controls

  • Review inventory valuation methodologies within ERP.
  • Validate costing calculations and inventory movement logic.
  • Verify standard cost, weighted average cost, and actual cost calculations where applicable.
  • Analyze production costing and manufacturing accounting logic.
  • Review landed cost calculations and allocation methodologies.
  • Ensure inventory transactions properly impact the General Ledger.

Financial Data Integrity & Reconciliation

  • Perform detailed transaction tracing from source documents to GL.
  • Review flow of transactions through sub-ledgers and financial statements.
  • Investigate system-generated variances and reconciliation differences.
  • Ensure accuracy between ERP data and management reports.
  • Validate month-end and year-end closing processes within ERP.

Process Mapping & Business Analysis

  • Document end-to-end business processes.
  • Analyze system workflows and identify process gaps.
  • Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Develop controls to minimize manual intervention and financial risk.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Review ERP controls and approval workflows.
  • Ensure segregation of duties is maintained within ERP.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to ERP processes.
  • Review audit observations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with finance control frameworks.

Key Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Professional Accounting Qualification.
  • Preferred: CA / ACCA / CPA / CMA.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in ERP implementation or ERP finance support.
  • Minimum 7-10 years total finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of:

    o Fixed Assets
    o Financial Reporting
  • Experienced in: ERP implementation lifecycle, Manufacturing ERP systems, and Inventory-intensive businesses.
  • Experienced in: IFRS Knowledge, Financial Reporting, Consolidation, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Manufacturing Accounting, and Customs & Trade Accounting.
