Quality Engineer

Location: Des Moines, IA

We are seeking an organized, experienced Quality Engineer to join our growing organization. In this position, you will work to improve existing quality control procedures and processes within our system and collaborate with team members to build new quality controls, tests, and verifications. Should have experience developing controlled processes that verify design outputs.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Initiate, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions
  • Support Quality systems implementation and assist in writing procedures and work instructions
  • Participate in ISO-9001 auditing activities
  • Provides support to our customers and sales reps regarding field quality issues
  • Monitor warranty returns, track and investigate common returns
  • Track warranty claims, investigate and analyze trends, and report results and strategies to reduce claims
  • Interact with customers in a professional and customer service oriented approach, via written/e-mail or verbal on the phone or web, regarding a warranty claim investigation, process, and decisions
  • Reviews returned material from customer, verifies the customer complaint, develops plan to address root causes, and communicate with customers as needed
  • Develops and maintains quality standards and requirements for development and design projects
  • Develops process for validation of design, evaluate the data, and write reports
  • Implement inspection plans for new projects and provide updates on current projects as required
  • Perform verification and tests as required
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and implement process improvements
  • Communicates and resolve quality issues identified on the shop floor
  • Works with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improvement opportunities and implement an effective corrective action
  • Develop employees through training, annual review, monitoring, and mentoring
  • Other duties may be assigned


Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or related technical degree
  • 2-3 years of previous experience in a quality engineer, quality assurance, or related engineering or technical role within an automotive manufacturing environment are preferred
  • Extensive analytical experience, including investigating issues, recognizing trends, and recommending solutions to non-routine complex issues
  • Knowledge of and experience with ISO-9001 and/or quality systems
  • Good problem-solving abilities using a systematic, logical, and sequential approach
  • Working knowledge and understanding of basic design engineering practices
  • Self-motivated person who can take initiative to complete tasks by targeted completion dates
  • Must have hands on approach, identify issues and provide resolutions
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • An excellent team player who can interact effectively with all functions
  • Able to communicate, develop and positively influence other hourly personnel without direct authority
  • Computer skills with an aptitude in Microsoft Office products, specifically with good experience and skill using Microsoft Excel
