Role Description:

This position is responsible for mechanical engineering on large-scale projects. Project requirements involving mechanical system design from scratch, analysis/calculations (stress/fatigue/etc.), acceleration forces, load calculations, material stress design, failure and effects analysis, risk assessment, component selection, and mechanical system installation/commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organized and technically proficient with excellent communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Design, develop, and implement integrated mechanical assembly systems meeting process requirements and all compliance standards.
  • Conduct Hazard analysis and optimize system designs for safety and reliability, including understanding of Class 1 parts to minimize single points of failure.
  • Create comprehensive system documentation, including: descriptions of operation, mechanical system design details, system implementation/acceptance test plans, and maintenance procedures.
  • Develop drawings of mechanical design, assemblies, and installation procedures on AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks software.
  • Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
  • Perform system analysis and calculations, including stress, fatigue, reliability, tolerance studies, and life expectancy.
  • Knowledge of ride system design requirements, attraction guest safety, and industry regulations.
  • Act as a Technical Lead on projects, guiding engineers, technicians and contractors, and manage schedules.
  • Act as a Project Manager on smaller projects ($50k-$250k). Responsible for developing plans, manage project deadlines, scheduling, manage purchasing, subcontractor requirements, and develop cost proposals for contract scope changes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering.
  2. 5+ years Experience. In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, components, stress analysis, acceleration forces, and knowledge of amusement ride safety standards (ASTM Standards). Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also desired.
  3. Skills All employees are required to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  4. Travel Ability to travel up to 35%


Physical Demands of Position 

Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

Working Conditions 

Expected to be on client location 5 days a week, Standard office environment, On-site office environment, and diverse industrial/construction environments. Frequent PC usage, copy machines, phones.
