About the role
The landscape within the UC area changes rapidly, driven by technology and hybrid working. With the focus being on an excellent stakeholder experience, we use scripting, infrastructure as code, open source and cloud technologies combined with Enterprise UC products from vendors such as Cisco, Zoom and Microsoft to achieve this.
Voice and Video Platform Engineering is a small team of three engineers and is responsible for the design, engineering, project delivery, and ongoing operation/support of all voice and video conferencing and related systems within the company.
This is a diverse and challenging role which will suit someone driven to experiment, learn and embrace new approaches. It requires strong problem solving, and critical thinking.
Work closely with members of the Messaging, wider Infrastructure and End User departments to design and engineer solutions, API access, and automation. Then productionise and deliver those solutions ensuring that they are highly available and scalable.
Take responsibility for running the production environment ensuring the highest level of availability, performance, and accountability.
About you
An experienced engineer with a solid background in enterprise voice and video conferencing and all of the elements that these technologies touch
Are very hands-on, always looking to experiment, learn, and explore new technology and new approaches to old problems.
Understand the production systems need to be rock solid stable and managed accordingly
Believe that repetitive tasks should be automated and have good scripting experience in Python, Powershell, Javascript
Be experienced with DevOps and Git and understand automation tools like Ansible and Octopus
You are never satisfied with solutions being Good enough, but understand that done is better than perfect.
Experience presenting/visualising data clearly and concisely.
Understanding and exposure to Voice technologies, including CUCM, Teams phone, Webex Cloud Calling and Voice recording. Historic understanding of Trader Voice.
Understanding and experience of administration of Teams, Webex and Zoom platforms, meetings and meeting room appliances.
Are able to analyse problems, spot opportunities for improvement, and design with appropriate solutions.
Are looking for a broad role that encompasses everything from evaluating/testing new hardware and software, designing/implementing, and on-going support
What you will do
Play a key role in designing and evolving the future state of the voice and video infrastructure, automation, and processes within the company
Get involved in every stage of voice and video projects from design to implementation to support and management. The team will engineer, own and run the full life cycle of any solution.
Innovate and improve the user experience of the solutions we manage including CUCM, Cisco RoomOS meeting rooms, Webex, Teams and Zoom meetings
Use a mixture of on-premises and cloud technologies to provide highly available and high performance UC systems
Ensure that the platforms in the company are available 24x365 and deliver the required performance levels.
Interface with high profile stakeholders such as Traders, Compliance, Senior Management and drive initiatives
Troubleshooting problems and ensuring that the root-causes cause is understood & resolved.
Maintain a consistently high level of service delivery for incidents, requests and changes.
Other beneficial experience
Experience of IP Networks, with Cisco or Arista professional certification
Experience of Design, Project delivery and Operational Support.
Experience of MS Teams Admin Centre, Teams Phone, Direct Routing/Operator Connect, Local gateways
Performance analysis and troubleshooting of voice systems, inc SIP troubleshooting
Experience and an understanding of Windows, Linux, VMware
Scripting in one or more of the following: Python, PowerShell, Javascript
Experience with cloud technologies, Azure, OAuth, Certificates
Development and interpretation of performance monitoring and metrics
