Youth Development Specialist

TALENT HIVE is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Development Specialist for a project based in the Richmond area (Virginia)

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work and a desire to work with youth from diverse backgrounds. This is a full-time position, working approximately 40 hours per week, with the potential for some evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide individual and group counseling to youth, helping them to address and overcome personal, social, and emotional challenges

- Conduct assessments and create treatment plans for each client, in collaboration with the client and their family

- Connect clients with appropriate resources and services, such as mental health support, education and job training programs, and housing assistance

- Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed

- Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to advocate for and coordinate services for clients

- Maintain accurate and thorough client records and documentation

- Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and develop strategies for supporting them

- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in emergency situations

- Stay up-to-date on best practices and developments in the field of youth social work

- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the provision of services to clients

Qualifications:

- Associate's / Bachelor's / Master's degree in Social Work or a related field

- State licensure or certification as a social worker

- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in a social work or counseling setting

- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions for youth

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards clients

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
