Role Overview:
As a Tax Manager, you will be integral to driving tax strategy, overseeing tax return preparation, and consulting on a wide array of tax matters. In this role, you will manage engagements, deliver timely and accurate reviews, and lead both client interactions and team development. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to identifying tax planning opportunities and ensuring compliance across various tax-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the review process for all types of tax returns, addressing complex issues and identifying tax-saving opportunities before finalizing for principal review.
- Provide tax consulting services, conducting in-depth research to address client inquiries and proposing tailored solutions to enhance tax strategies.
- Take charge of engagement management, including planning, overseeing tax return preparation, and coordinating consulting assignments.
- Spot and leverage opportunities for tax planning and consulting, collaborating with clients' other advisors as necessary.
- Support firm management by assisting with non-tax administrative tasks and ensuring smooth overall operations.
- Serve as the primary client contact for both tax and consulting-related matters, fostering strong relationships and clear communication.
- Work closely with internal teams to track the progress of various projects, ensuring timely completion and resource allocation.
- Mentor staff members, offering guidance, training, and leadership to enhance team development and performance.
- Contribute to the firm's growth by identifying potential new business opportunities and cross-selling services to existing clients.
Qualifications:
- Active CPA or EA designation with 5+ years of progressive experience in a public accounting environment.
- Bachelors degree required; Masters in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
- Expertise in international tax laws, including S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, and individual tax regulations, with knowledge of foreign informational reporting requirements preferred.
- Experience with estates, trusts, multi-state, and consolidated tax returns.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and review work of junior staff in a constructive manner.
- Demonstrated time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Familiarity with tax software such as UltraTax CS, CCH ProSystem, QuickBooks, and Practice CS is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
