Position Description:

Oversee the Quality Assurance Department, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Manage QA team and monitor Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Support Sales in meeting customer requirements.
  • Lead SQF System development and act as SQF Practitioner.
  • Facilitate employee training on safety and quality procedures.
  • Prepare for audits and inspections.
  • Handle customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot product non-conformities.
  • Verify product traceability and recall systems.
  • Develop testing/reporting protocols.
  • Collaborate with management on production issues and improvements.
  • Conduct internal inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage Supplier and Customer Complaint Policy and Hold/Rework Policies.
  • Enforce sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Review product specifications and work with Purchasing.
  • Contribute to special projects and maintain Food Safety and Quality Manual.
  • Report food safety and quality issues.
  • Provide backup for QA Lead Technician.

Essential Skills and Experience Needed:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of food industry policies (FDA, USDA, SQF).
  • HACCP training and experience.
  • SQF 2000 training and SQFI "Certificate of Attainment" preferred.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
