Our client is a family owned dairy in Sonoma County, providing artisan yogurts and cheeses across the country. We are seeking a stellar Sales Manager for the California Territory who can work independently and enjoys seeking out new challenges. A passion for health-conscious and artisanal foods, experience working with grocery stores, and strong communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have experience working with brokers, regional chains, independent stores, and natural grocery outlets.

This role will manage a portfolio of yogurts within the Northern and Southern California territory. You will visit retailers in person and virtually to build shared business opportunities. This position involves overseeing regional accounts and independents while collaborating with brokers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage relationships with current accounts, including regular visits to retail locations.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans with chains and independent stores to meet objectives.
  • Sell new product lines, fill voids, merchandise, and manage promotions.
  • Travel 50% of the time for field and headquarters visits in both Northern and Southern California, primarily in major metro areas. The territory includes regions as far south as San Diego and as far north as Ukiah.
  • Communicate brand and product information to retail buyers and team members during meetings, trainings, and customer education efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal team members on regional initiatives and events to ensure success.
  • Represent the brand during in-store demos, tradeshows, or other marketing opportunities.
  • Maintain detailed records of account action items and progress.
  • Be available to work on select weekends as needed.
  • Submit weekly travel reports and mileage.
  • Maintain a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record.
  • Must be based near the San Francisco or Los Angeles metro areas.
  • Be available for occasional travel to other state metros for 14 days at a time.
  • This position reports to the Vice President of Sales.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in natural/organic/specialty food sales and proven territory management.
  • Experience with dairy and/or specialty products preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College degree in Business/Marketing preferred.
