Job Summary:

As a School Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students within the school community. You will provide counseling services, support students in their personal and academic growth, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individual Counseling:

    • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address personal, academic, and social concerns.
    • Develop and implement personalized plans to support students' emotional and behavioral well-being.
  2. Group Counseling:

    • Facilitate group counseling sessions to address common issues affecting students.
    • Collaborate with teachers to identify and address specific group counseling needs.
  3. Crisis Intervention:

    • Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, such as emergencies or emotional crises.
    • Collaborate with school administrators and external resources to ensure the well-being of students during critical incidents.
  4. Academic Support:

    • Assist students in setting academic goals and developing study skills.
    • Collaborate with teachers to identify and address academic challenges affecting students.
  5. Career Guidance:

    • Offer guidance and support to students in exploring career options and setting career goals.
    • Organize career fairs, workshops, and informational sessions to enhance students' awareness of potential career paths.
  6. Parental Collaboration:

    • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to discuss students' progress and address concerns.
    • Collaborate with parents in developing strategies to support students at home.
  7. Collaboration with Faculty and Administration:

    • Work closely with teachers and school staff to identify and address student needs.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to enhance the overall school environment.
  8. Professional Development:

    • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling.
    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • State certification or licensure as a school counselor.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Experience in providing counseling services in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and ethical standards related to school counseling.
