Role Overview

The Head Skilling & Employability will lead efforts in shaping, scaling, and sustaining skilling and livelihood initiatives across India. This role demands a strategic leader with a strong vision for employability and workforce development, a deep understanding of industry trends, and proven expertise in building partnerships that drive large-scale social impact.

The role holder will design and deliver high-impact programs that enable marginalized communities to access market-relevant skills and sustainable livelihoods, while positioning the organisation as a thought leader in the skilling ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define the overall skilling and employability strategy in alignment with orgs vision and Indias evolving workforce needs.
  • Drive innovation in program design with a focus on technology-led skilling, future skills, and placement-linked training.
  • Represent the Foundation as a thought leader in national and international skilling forums, policy dialogues, and industry platforms.

Program Development & Delivery

  • Oversee the end-to-end design, execution, and scaling of skilling programs across geographies.
  • Ensure programs cover technical training (Full Stack Development, Python, Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, etc.) as well as professional, behavioural, and life skills.
  • Establish robust monitoring & evaluation frameworks to measure program effectiveness and long-term impact.
  • Ensure quality assurance of training, curriculum alignment, and impactful learner experience.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Build and nurture partnerships with corporates, industry bodies, academia, government agencies, and local institutions to expand opportunities for youth and women.
  • Develop and maintain a strong recruiter and employer ecosystem to ensure placement-linked skilling.
  • Engage with donors, funders, and CSR partners, ensuring program alignment with their priorities while advancing mission.

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multi-location, cross-functional team to achieve program objectives.
  • Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and operational efficiency across projects.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational processes, donor reporting requirements, and regulatory standards.

Impact & Advocacy

  • Develop knowledge products, case studies, and impact reports to strengthen orgs positioning as a leader in the employability space.
  • Drive visibility of success stories across media, digital platforms, and external communication channels.
  • Facilitate donor visits, field immersions, and strategic outreach events.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Graduate / Postgraduate degree in Management, Social Sciences, or related field with 15+ years of progressive experience in skilling, employability, livelihoods, or workforce development.
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale programs, multi-location teams, and high-value donor partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of labour market trends, employer needs, and emerging job roles.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, with ability to engage with senior industry leaders, government stakeholders, and donors.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to balance program impact and sustainability.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and advocacy skills.
  • Technology-savvy, with comfort in using data-driven tools for decision-making.
  • A collaborative leader who brings vision, inspires teams, and drives measurable outcomes.
