Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies in alignment with the organization's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and strategic budgets.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide regular reports to the executive team and Board of Directors.
Financial Management and Compliance:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and legal requirements.
- Manage relationships with auditors, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions.
Risk Management and Internal Controls:
- Identify financial risks and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and mitigate financial risks.
Grant Management and Donor Reporting:
- Manage financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budget development, reporting, and compliance.
- Coordinate with program managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors and funding agencies.
Financial Sustainability and Growth:
- Work with the executive team to develop strategies for financial sustainability and growth.
- Explore opportunities for diversifying revenue streams and maximizing financial resources.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop finance staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA or CA preferred.
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in the NGO sector.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, grant management, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational goals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present financial information to diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability.
