Job Summary

The Painting Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating all painting and coating activities at project sites. The role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and schedules. The Painting Supervisor leads painting teams, monitors productivity, ensures proper surface preparation, and maintains compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Operations

• Supervise and coordinate daily painting activities at project sites.
• Allocate manpower, materials, equipment, and tools to ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensure all painting work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Monitor work progress and ensure project milestones are achieved within schedule.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and assign work responsibilities to painting crews.
• Inspect surface preparation, primer application, intermediate coats, and final finishes.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to avoid work conflicts and ensure smooth project execution.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure painting and coating activities comply with project quality standards and applicable codes.
• Verify proper surface preparation methods, including cleaning, blasting, sanding, and repairs.
• Monitor paint mixing, thinning, application techniques, and curing requirements.
• Conduct inspections throughout the painting process and rectify defects as required.
• Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and work completion documentation.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and site safety procedures.
• Verify the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
• Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.

Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate material requirements with procurement and warehouse teams.
• Monitor paint and consumable inventory to avoid shortages.
• Prepare daily work plans and progress reports.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel and client representatives.
• Support project planning and scheduling activities.

Team Leadership

• Supervise painters, helpers, and subcontractors.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance.
• Monitor workforce productivity and performance.
• Maintain discipline and promote teamwork within the painting crew.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Painting, Industrial Coatings, Construction, or a related discipline.
• Additional certifications in industrial painting or protective coatings are an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in painting and coating works.
• At least 2–3 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, industrial, or commercial projects is preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of painting systems, industrial coatings, and surface preparation techniques.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and painting procedures.
• Knowledge of coating inspection requirements and quality standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Good planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with safety procedures related to painting and hazardous materials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.

Preferred Knowledge

• Protective coatings and corrosion control.
• Airless spray, conventional spray, roller, and brush application methods.
• Surface preparation standards (SSPC/NACE/ISO standards).
• Material estimation and inventory control.
• Work permit systems and safe work practices.
