Our client an independent engineering innovation company has a career opportunity for a Contracts Representative in Cambridge MA (Hybrid).
Responsibilities:
The Electronic Systems Contract Representative plays a pivotal role in the cradle-to-grave management of complex contracts within one or multiple Business Areas. This role focuses heavily on capture, proposal development, negotiation, and customer relationship management. Under the guidance of a Business Area Contracts Leader, the representative works to shape pre-contract outcomes, mitigate proposal risks, and align with strategic program directions while maintaining a robust execution contracts portfolio.
- Comprehensive Contract Management: Manage cradle-to-grave contracts, including long-term vehicles (BOA, IDIQ, OTA) and other R&D, EMD, or production contracts, through various acquisition phases.
- Customer Liaison: Serve as the official point of contact for customer communications, ensuring alignment and transparency.
- Business Winning Activities: Lead contracting actions during the capture and proposal phases, developing and executing negotiation strategies for favorable corporate outcomes.
- Compliance Leadership: Ensure adherence to the Truthful Cost or Pricing Data Act, including conducting sweeps, disclosures, and certifications.
- Terms & Conditions Analysis: Conduct in-depth reviews of contract terms, clarify requirements, and establish a contract baseline.
- Change Management: Drive change management practices, including timely notifications, compliant change proposals, and resolution of disputes.
- Lifecycle Interpretation: Interpret contract requirements throughout the lifecycle, bridging customer and corporate disconnects while resolving disputes efficiently.
- Closeout Activities: Fulfill contract closeout requirements, ensuring a complete and accurate official contract record.
Requirements:
- Government Contracting Knowledge: Expertise in FAR/DFARS and a comprehensive understanding of contract anatomy, including R&D, production, OTAs, and commercial contracts.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues with accuracy and efficiency.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
- Independence & Mentorship: Self-starter with the ability to work independently, mentor junior colleagues, and lead team training.
- Intellectual Property Acumen: Familiarity with IP considerations and corporate IP strategies.
- Baseline Management: Proficient in documenting changes, measuring contract baselines, and understanding delegated authority structures.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and adaptable to new systems.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field (advanced degree preferred; can substitute for 2 years of experience).
- High school diploma with some college and 4 additional years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Professional Certifications: CFCM, CPCM, or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- 510 years of relevant government contracting experience (aerospace, defense, or national security industries preferred).
- Proven expertise in contract management, proposal development, and negotiation strategies.
Security Clearance:
- Requirement: Must obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- Preference: Current in-scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
