About the job MTE

Job Overview

  • The Manufacturing Test Engineer (MTE) develops test solutions, deploys test systems to contract manufacturers (CM), and ensures product quality through robust manufacturing test processes.
  • As a MTE, you will design, develop, deploy, and support manufacturing test solutions for Customer's consumer electronics devices at CM sites. You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, and manufacturing — ensuring devices meet quality standards before shipping to end-users.

Job Description

  • Design, develop, and deploy manufacturing test systems (hardware fixtures + test software) for consumer electronics devices.
  • Develop test automation software in Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or other languages for functional testing (audio, display, sensors, cameras, etc.)
  • Create and maintain test sequences, test plans, and test specifications aligned with product requirements.
  • Deploy and support test systems at CM factory sites; troubleshoot production line issues.
  • Analyze test data to identify yield issues, optimize test coverage, and reduce No Trouble Found (NTF) rates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, CM partners) to resolve manufacturing test challenges.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for real-time manufacturing data collection and analytics.
  • Drive continuous improvement of test processes: improve First Pass Yield (FPY), reduce cycle time, and optimize Unit Per Hour (UPH).
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) builds from HVT through PVT.
  • Manage test equipment vendors and develop fixture specifications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering or test automation.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, C/C++, C#, or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical test system design and implementation.
  • Understanding of consumer electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, FATP).
  • Experience with test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies).
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more test domains: Audio/Acoustic, RF/Wireless (WiFi, BT, Zigbee), Display/Optics, Camera/Vision, Sensors.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS) for data collection and analytics.
  • Experience with AI/ML-based defect detection or computer vision in manufacturing.
  • Experience with manufacturing data systems and real-time dashboards.
  • Experience working with ODMs/CMs in Asia (China, Vietnam, Taiwan).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality methodologies.
  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile development.
  • Familiarity with Linux/embedded systems.
  • English communication skills (reading technical documents, email correspondence)
