Job Description

  • Manage material and component quality issues during NPI builds, production ramp, and mass production.
  • Support incoming material quality, IQC issues, supplier defects, lot-related failures and component quality excursions.
  • Lead or coordinate Failure Analysis (FA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for material- and component-related issues.
  • Drive supplier containment, corrective action, and preventive action using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and CAPA.
  • Support material and component qualification, including new suppliers, alternate sources, design changes, ECN/PCN changes, and second-source qualification.
  • Review supplier and incoming quality performance and identify recurring defect trends or systemic risks.
  • Work with engineering and suppliers to evaluate component specifications, drawings, CTQs, material characteristics, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support factory builds and investigates material-related yield fallout, assembly defects, reliability failures, and field issues where applicable.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Quality, Product Quality, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Sourcing, Reliability, and contract manufacturer teams to drive issue resolution.
  • Track quality issues to closure and verify the effectiveness of supplier corrective actions.
  • Support supplier audits, process reviews, quality improvement activities, and readiness assessments as needed.
  • Escalate critical material-quality risks and ensure clear communication to cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in material quality, supplier quality, component engineering, product quality, manufacturing quality, or related roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with FA, RCA, RCCA, 8D, FMEA, CAPA, and supplier corrective-action management.
  • Experience supporting NPI and high-volume manufacturing in electronics or consumer hardware.
  • Good understanding of incoming quality, component qualification, supplier quality, material validation, and production quality.
  • Experience working with EMS/CM factories and component or material suppliers.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Preferred Experience

  • Consumer electronics, smartphone, wearable, computing, or other high-volume electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with components such as PCB/PCBA parts, connectors, displays, camera modules, batteries, mechanical parts, plastics, metals, adhesives, thermal materials, or other electromechanical components.
  • Familiarity with supplier and quality tools such as SPC, Cp/Cpk, GR&R, DOE, Pareto, Fishbone, 5 Why, 8D, PPAP, APQP, and Control Plans.
  • Experience managing supplier change qualification, alternate-source qualification, ECN/PCN, and lot disposition.
  • Experience coordinating with international engineering, sourcing, supplier, or customer teams.
  • Experience supporting supplier audits and supplier process capability improvement.
