Job Description
- Manage and support import and export trade compliance activities for hardware, components, equipment, and materials moving across international borders.
- Ensure transactions comply with applicable customs, import/export, sanctions, and trade-control requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Support tariff and HS classification, country-of-origin determination, customs valuation, import/export documentation, and license or permit requirements as applicable.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Sourcing, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, and external customs brokers or freight forwarders to resolve trade-compliance issues.
- Review shipment and customs documentation for accuracy and completeness, and support timely clearance of materials and equipment for NPI and production operations.
- Coordinate restricted-party screening, end-use/end-user checks, and escalation of potential compliance risks to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain trade-compliance records, standard operating procedures, and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, customs inquiries, corrective actions, and continuous improvement of trade-compliance processes.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Trade Compliance, Customs, Import/Export, Global Logistics, or related areas, preferably in a multinational or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of import/export procedures, customs documentation, HS classification, country of origin, and customs valuation.
- Experience supporting international shipments of hardware, components, equipment, or manufacturing materials.
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, contract manufacturers, or global logistics partners.
- Demonstrated ability to independently interpret trade-compliance requirements, identify compliance risks, investigate issues, and drive actions to closure with limited supervision.
- Strong cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
Preferred Experience
- Consumer electronics, semiconductor, hardware technology, or other high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting India import/export and customs operations within a multinational or global supply-chain environment.
- Familiarity with restricted-party screening, export controls, trade sanctions, licensing, Free Trade Agreements, and duty optimization programs.
- Experience supporting NPI, factory ramp, capital equipment, spare parts, or component movements across international suppliers and manufacturing sites.
- Experience coordinating with international trade-compliance, legal, sourcing, logistics, engineering, or customer teams.
