Job Description
- Lead the development and optimization of advanced metal processing techniques, including CNC machining, casting, die casting, liquid forging, and heat treatment, ensuring adherence to industry-leading standards.
- Develop and enhance welding processes with a specific focus on aluminum alloy welding; conduct weldability assessments to ensure material and design compatibility.
- Drive comprehensive DFM reviews across metal processing and welding techniques, providing actionable feedback to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Continuously evaluate and improve metal processing and welding practices to achieve optimal cost, quality, and efficiency, maintaining competitive manufacturing capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, quality, and production teams to integrate metal processing and welding techniques into product development.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives with suppliers, focusing on CNC machining, casting, heat treatment, forging, and welding; work closely with suppliers to ensure consistent, high-quality outputs.
- Oversee the development and testing of prototypes for metal-processed and welded components, ensuring scalability for mass production.
- Stay current with new technologies in metal processing and welding, integrating innovations to maintain cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.
- Travel frequently to supplier locations and manufacturing sites as required to oversee processes, conduct assessments, and ensure quality.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive expertise in both cold (CNC machining) and hot (casting, die casting, forging, heat treatment) metal processing, particularly with aluminum alloys.
- Strong experience in aluminum alloy welding, with proven capability in conducting weldability assessments and optimizing welding techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct strategic DFM reviews across multiple metal processing and welding methods to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs.
- Proven track record of optimizing metal processing and welding techniques to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for designing and simulating metal components and welded assemblies.
- Fluency in English for effective communication in an English-speaking office environment; fluency in Chinese is an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering Degree in BSME or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in metal processing and welding, with a focus on aluminum alloys.
- Expertise in CNC machining, casting, die casting, liquid forging, heat treatment, and welding.
- Proven ability to assess weldability and optimize materials and designs for welding.
- Previous experience in a global environment, with a strong track record of managing NPI projects from concept to mass production.
