Role Overview:
Asquad - Ukrainian Fintech Company is looking for a proactive, ownership-driven developer to join the frontend team. The ideal candidate can quickly take on tasks from ideation to delivery with minimal oversight, ensuring features are robust, performant, and thoroughly tested.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Your Ticket - take work items from product/project managers, clarifying requirements and acceptance criteria, then deliver fully tested features.
- Plan & Estimate - participate in grooming sessions, ask the right questions, and provide accurate estimates.
- Build & Deliver - write high-quality code (React/Preact + TypeScript), ensuring solid test coverage (Cypress/Jest). Consider all edge cases and usability aspects.
- Take Full Ownership - drive solutions independently but collaborate when needed. Be accountable from development through deployment.
- Identify & Improve Weak Spots - suggest actionable fixes for technical debt or performance bottlenecks and champion continuous improvements.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally - work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, DevOps, and QA to deliver end-to-end features.
- Promote Best Practices - maintain focus on clean code, usability, documentation, and thorough testing.
- Influence Technology Choices - while the stack is React/Preact, TypeScript, Cypress/Jest, Styled-Components, and WebSockets, we welcome ideas (e.g., Next.js) that add genuine value.
What Were Looking For:
- Frontend Experience
- Proven hands-on work in JavaScript, TypeScript, React/Preact, and modern testing frameworks.
- Mindset of strong sense of ownership, proactive in solving challenges, eager to learn and grow.
- Soft Skills & Autonomy
- Excellent communication, self-management, and the ability to handle product issues with minimal guidance.
- Ready to Start ASAP - Immediate or near-term availability is highly preferred.
Better to have:
- Familiarity with Next.js or other full-stack frameworks; experience with WebSockets or Styled-Components.
- Prior product experience (building production apps/features).
- No significant employment gaps leading up to the interview.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced product environment
