About the Role:
MJ Consulting Engineers (MJC) has an opening for a Senior Structural Engineer at our Manchester office. MJC is a specialist structural engineering firm known for its dedication and excellence in serving the events industry for over 25 years. As a critical part of our team, you will be working primarily on theatre buildings, show productions, and outdoor events, as well as on the preservation and enhancement of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.
With project costs up to £12m and the use of the latest design software, the role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful, high-value projects. A competitive salary of up to £40k will be offered, commensurate with the importance of this role within our company.
MJC is part of the Structural Engineering Alliance Group (SEAG), a collective of esteemed engineering firms, each distinguished in its respective field, united by a shared vision of pioneering progress.
Responsibilities:
- Use latest design software to create and manage structural designs.
- Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, delegating work to team members, programming deliverables, and monitoring progress.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff, fostering their development and progression.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, details, specifications and reports for a wide range of structures and materials
- Implement Company policies and ensure adherence across your team.
- Monitor and oversee project budgets and staff resources for projects undertaken.
- Develop existing customer relationships and promote MJC's services.
- Assist in achieving targeted revenues from current and new customers.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) would be advantageous
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
- Proven track record of cost estimation and project management.
- Prior experience working with historic buildings is highly desirable.
