About the Role:

MJ Consulting Engineers (MJC) has an opening for a Graduate Structural Engineer at our Manchester office. MJC is a specialist structural engineering firm known for its dedication and excellence in serving the events industry for over 25 years. As a critical part of our team, you will be working primarily on theatre buildings, show productions, and outdoor events, as well as on the preservation and enhancement of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.

With project costs up to £12m and the use of the latest design software, the role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful, high-value projects. A competitive salary of up to £40k will be offered, commensurate with the importance of this role within our company.

Responsibilities:

• Use the latest design software to create and manage structural designs.
• Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, delegating work to team members, programming deliverables, and monitoring progress.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, details, specifications and reports for a wide range of structures and materials

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree preferred).
• Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
• Use of industry design standards, i.e. DMRB; Manual for Streets; NJUG, SSG etc.
• Problem solver, able to offer solutions to challenges
• Able to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Confident, articulate, collaborative & proactive
• Eagerness to learn and to develop your skills and career with training support
• Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload.
• A good knowledge of the CDM regulations in addition to British standards and EU regulations.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK and be able to demonstrate proof when requested.
