Job Description:

This is an engaging and dynamic role that provides the opportunity to collaborate with Survey Project Managers and licensed Surveyors to plan, assess, and execute proposed survey projects. The Survey Crew Chief will lead and manage a field survey crew, overseeing the completion of diverse survey fieldwork across a broad range of projects.

In this position, the Survey Crew Chief will operate independently or as part of a team, utilizing GPS technology and robotic Total Stations to conduct Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of survey terminology and general engineering concepts, enabling effective communication with staff, clients, contractors, and the public. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and caring for survey equipment, ensuring the safety of themselves and their crew members on job sites, and training new field personnel to uphold high standards of performance.

Skills & Experience:

While prior field experience and proficiency with survey instruments are valuable assets, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for driving innovation within the surveying industry. Applicants with the following qualifications and attributes are encouraged to apply:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
  • Proven expertise in conducting Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
  • Familiarity with Trimble survey equipment is advantageous, though not mandatory
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software is a plus, but not required
  • Completion of survey-related coursework or attendance at industry seminars is preferred, but not essential
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • A self-driven and motivated mindset
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project assignments
