The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for supporting the accounting and financial processes of the organization across three legal entities. Working under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate recording of transactions into the organization's financial system. This role involves assisting with the general ledger, accounts payable, month-end closing, the audit, and ensuring the day-to-day accuracy of transactions, allocations, and journal entries.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll and benefits entries
- Assist with the month-end close process
- Assist with weekly cash receipts, accounts receivable and cash disbursement transactions
- Assist with credit card administration and account for credit card programs in accordance with organization's policies
- Assist with bank and other key accounts reconciliations, communicating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist with the monthly Development department's reconciliations
- Support in audit planning and gathering documentation
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of professional non-profit accounting experience
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Ability to communicate and explain complex financial information
- Able to manipulate, organize and present large amounts of data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills required
- Experience with non-profit enterprise software, such as SAGE Intacct, Expensify, Workday, Financial Edge, or similar required
Special Considerations:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $73,310.00 - $91,637.00 annually.
