About the Role

The Trading Support Engineer ensures that both automated and manual trading systems operate seamlessly in production. You will monitor live trading activity, troubleshoot technical issues, and work closely with developers and infrastructure teams to minimize downtime and mitigate risks. This role is crucial to maintaining system stability and supporting the firms trading operations. You will join a small but ambitious team, reporting to the Managing Director, and gain deep exposure to cryptocurrency trading, trading infrastructure, and proprietary algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Track live market data feeds, order flows, and system health dashboards.

  • Detects anomalies such as missing prices, delayed executions, or connectivity issues.

  • Investigate alerts or trader-reported problems.

  • Apply quick fixes (restart services, reroute traffic, adjust configurations).

  • Escalate complex issues to developers, infrastructure, or networking teams.

  • Keep stakeholders informed of ongoing incidents and expected resolution timelines.
  • Translate technical issues into clear explanations for non-technical team members.
  • Conduct post-mortem analyses and help implement permanent fixes.

  • Enhance monitoring and alerting systems to reduce false alarms.

  • Coordinate deployments with development teams.

  • Test and, if necessary, roll back changes to ensure system stability.

  • Continuously optimise trading infrastructure.

  • Develop and implement risk management measures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in trading operations, technical support, or financial systems environments.
  • Proficient in Linux/Unix command line, scripting (Python/Bash), and SQL.

  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, FIX protocol, API integrations).

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience in proprietary trading, crypto trading, or high-frequency trading environments.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Exposure to real-time monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana).

  • Background in quantitative finance or trading infrastructure engineering.

  • Personal trading experience.

  • Unix/Linux command line, Python/Bash scripting, basic networking, market data protocols (FIX, proprietary APIs).
