About the job AVP/VP of Credit
Our client is the largest SME digital financing platform in Southeast Asia, expanding into a leading SME Neobank. We are licensed and registered in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and operating in Vietnam, and backed by Sequoia India, Softbank Vision Fund, and SMBC bank amongst many others. They provide business financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are funded by individual and institutional investors.
As we pioneer SME digital banking across Southeast Asia, we are looking for a VP of Credit who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Credit activities, manage our credit portfolio in line with our risk appetite & risk limits, day-to-day team management responsibilities (hiring, training, performance management), working cross-functionally to facilitate and improve Credit & Collections processes, ensure our Credit & Collections processes comply with internal and external policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of end-to-end credit processes and support collections processes (e.g. review of loan applications, on-going monitoring / review of borrowers, delinquency & default management, site visits, etc.)
- Lead team management responsibilities for Credit (including hiring, training, performance management)
Support Collection Lead and team and work closely on delinquent cases
Lead the design, review and implementation of processes in line with credit & collection policies & procedures (working closely with Sales, Operations, Collections, Legal / Compliance and Finance teams)
Prepare regular updates on the overall portfolio and improvement plans to the respective risk committees
Work closely with our Product & Data team to develop and refine scoring systems to enable us to make better, faster and fairer credit & collections decisions
Liaise with regulators for compliance / regulatory and industry development purposes (thought leadership)
Lead necessary credit review and control measures, such as site visit and KYC (may require traveling as appropriate), notified payments, and control accounts.
Qualifications
Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Minimum 8 years experience in Thailand SME credit underwriting
Experience in leading credit teams
Experience with credit scorecards & policies in trade finance and unsecured lending products (good to have: secured lending products)
Good commercial judgment to strike a balance between risk and return
An analytical mindset with a practical approach to problem solving
A confident and enthusiastic attitude that works well in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Worked in fintech or digital / alternative lending will be an added advantage
Knowledge in using SAS, SQL, MS Office, Rule engine, preferred
Experience in SME, Trade Finance and Micro lending product
Project management skills, stakeholder management, communication
