This role can be stationed in any of the offices where the firm has a presence including Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, and Tokyo.

MISSION

A dynamic and visionary Regional Head of Business Development, Asia to lead and grow our client's business development efforts across the region is sought. This is a high-impact role that will drive the development and execution of strategic initiatives to enhance our market position, expand client relationships, and unlock new growth opportunities.

WHAT 

The successful candidate will oversee a cross-office team of business development and marketing professionals, fostering collaboration across practice groups, industry teams, and regional offices. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of building and executing business development strategies in the legal or professional services sector, particularly within Asia's complex and fast-evolving markets.

KEY

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement innovative business development strategies to drive growth across Asia, aligning with the firm's global objectives and regional priorities.
  • Team Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of business development and marketing professionals across multiple offices, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Client-Centric Growth: Partner with senior leadership and practice groups to identify and pursue new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and enhance the firm's profile in key markets across the region.
  • Market Insights: Leverage deep knowledge of Asia's legal and financial markets to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of the industry.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with practice groups, industry teams, and functional departments (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Competitive Intelligence) to deliver integrated solutions that drive measurable results.
  • Project Management: Lead high-stakes initiatives, including client pitches, proposals, and strategic events, ensuring seamless execution and measurable ROI.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage regional budgets, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and alignment with financial targets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, local law firms, and alumni networks.

YOU

  • Experience: 12-15 years of progressive experience in business development, client relationship management, and strategic planning, preferably within a leading international law firm or professional services organisation.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and grow teams in a matrixed, cross-border environment, with a track record of delivering results in Asia.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Asia's legal and financial markets, with expertise in identifying and capitalising on regional opportunities.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and drive innovative solutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or MBA highly preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel regularly across Asia and occasionally globally.
