Our client is a pre-eminent international law firm with an established Hong Kong disputes practice, seeking a Hong Kong-qualified contentious insolvency partner to strengthen its capabilities by spearheading the launch of a dedicated restructuring and insolvency litigation practice. This is an opportunity to join a collegiate, well-regarded team investing in a joined-up contentious and non-contentious restructuring offering, working alongside a high-calibre corporate team across the full business cycle from advisory and transactional mandates through to major contentious disputes.

The successful candidate will bring along, develop, and manage a caseload of insolvency disputes, asset recovery, fraud, enforcement and related commercial litigation matters, while building and maintaining strong relationships across key intermediaries including insolvency practitioners, accountants, and corporate finance advisers. You will have a demonstrable track record of advising creditors, private equity and private capital funds, debtors, directors, shareholders, and bondholders. amongst other parties. 

There is genuine scope to shape the future direction of the practice within a stable, well-resourced platform, with the opportunity to grow and market a market-leading contentious insolvency offering regionally.

Candidates should be Hong Kong or common law-qualified with an established contentious practice covering insolvency disputes and related commercial litigation and ideally also a non-contentious practice involving restructures, distressed debts and investements, together with an existing portable client base sufficient to support a sustainable practice. Chinese language ability is helpful, particularly for regional mandates, but is not essential. Strong technical ability and business development drive are essential.
