Stantec is looking for construction administration and management professionals to act as owner representatives on multiple sites across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to supervise the construction of buildings and facilities related to government and defense projects. The candidate's responsibilities include project management, contract administration, engineering inspections, quality assurance, reporting on progress, and health and safety inspection. Bilingual Arabic/English ability is a must. Experience with government and defense facilities is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Confers with design engineers during the development of design plans and specifications and makes
    comprehensive safety review of completed plans to ensure the inclusion of optimum accident
    prevention controls and safety features.
  • Assists CLIENT personnel with reviews and evaluation of safety programs and accident prevention
    programs. Ensures conformance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Assists CLIENT personnel with plans and development of activities related to environmental
    health hazards, such as sight and hearing conservation programs, exposures to temperature
    extremes, toxic materials, and ionizing radiation; personal health and sanitation, physical
    examinations of personnel for safety purposes, inoculation, vaccination, and immunization of
    personnel standards for drinking water, toilet, sewage, and other sanitary facilities.
  • Serves as advisor to Boards of Investigation in connection with investigation of fatalities to
    Government, Contractor, or military personnel and major property damage accidents involving
    Government or Contractor property or equipment.
  • Assists CLIENT personnel by participating in conferences and discussions with representatives of
    technical divisions of the district and offices of higher echelons, representatives of using services,
    Task Order forces, other Government agencies, and equipment suppliers.
  • Assists CLIENT personnel in coordinating, planning, and evaluating safety training courses. Working with
    CLIENT personnel, determine course objectives, need for training, recommends nomination of
    individuals to appropriate supervisor, organizes and writes lesson plans.
  • Responsible for working with the CLIENT Safety Officer to assist with the implementation and enforcement
    of all safety rules, regulations, and directives applicable to the work supervised.
  • Evaluate and document conformance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Review evaluate, and document findings regarding contractor plans related to environmental
    health hazards
  • Provides translation services, oral and written for CLIENT staff, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University degree related to engineering technology and/or safety
  • Minimum of 10 years overall experience
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering
  • Three years of experience related to the profession of safety inspection
  • Level 3 English language ability. Ability to speak and read Arabic.
  • Knowledge of building design, construction standards, methods, and practices sufficient to
    evaluate compliance with safety and occupational health criteria (such as EM 385-1-1).
  • Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of job hazard analysis and other analytical techniques sufficient to perform mishap
    investigations and identify causal factors.
  • Knowledge of professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques and skill in devising
    innovative safety procedures to minimize potential for injury of property damage resulting from
    construction activities and equipment operations.
