About the job Senior Wastewater Network Modeller (Turkey)
Primary Purpose of Role
Contribute to Stantec's business goals by providing senior technical input, project workflow management, and expertise in specialist areas of urban drainage modelling and data analytics.
To play a key role in the execution of urban drainage modelling tasks to support the feasibility, scoping, design, and implementation of leading-edge programmes and projects. Support the development of data analytics linked to wastewater services, while providing technical guidance to junior team members.
Work in conjunction with Project Managers and Technical Leads to ensure that projects are delivered to cost, schedule, technical, and quality standards to meet both client and Stantec expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Technical Leadership: Lead the technical delivery of urban drainage modelling projects, ensuring robust model build, verification, and analysis to understand system performance.
- Solution Development: Utilize existing or new models to develop catchment strategies and engineered solutions. This includes mitigating the effects of development and climate change, solving sewer and surface water flooding, and addressing unsatisfactory overflows, operational deficiencies, and water quality issues.
- Team Guidance & Mentoring: Provide daily technical guidance, instruction, and training to less experienced modellers within the Scotland offices, fostering staff development and technical growth.
- Workload Coordination: Assist the TDL and Resource Managers by coordinating the day-to-day task allocation for small project teams/modellers to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Commercial Support: Assist in the preparation of robust cost and time estimates for modelling work packages and project designs.
- Software & Data Innovation: Utilize advanced software (InfoWorks ICM, GIS) and data analytics tools to provide reliable advice, innovative solutions, and successful project outcomes for clients.
- Reporting & Communication: Plan, programme, co-ordinate, and write technical reports for specific projects, ensuring clear communication of outcomes to clients and stakeholders.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain regular communication and develop ongoing professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders during project delivery.
- Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the exchange of ideas, concepts, and skills throughout the regional and wider UK business through active technical networking.
- Quality Assurance: Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
Person Specification
- Education: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or another relevant STEM subject.
- Professional Status: Chartered member of a relevant engineering or environmental institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) or actively working towards completion.
- Experience: Proven track record in the water industry with strong experience in the wastewater and stormwater network modelling sector.
- Technical Expertise: A full, comprehensive understanding and advanced working capability in InfoWorks ICM.
- Analytical Skills: Strong working knowledge of using GIS platforms (ArcGIS/QGIS) and data analysis tools.
- Project & People Management: Experience in supervising project tasks, managing junior staff delivery, and supporting staff development.
- Commercial Awareness: Good understanding of project budgets, performance constraints, and the components required to deliver successful commercial outcomes.
- Delivery Focus: Ability to meet tight time constraints, multi-task effectively, and adapt to changing project demands.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear advice for clients.
- Teamwork: Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to integrate seamlessly into a regional team and provide positive technical influence over others.
