Professional Responsibilities:
- Reports departmental performance to management and offers suggestions about department strategy and resource utilization
- Determines and suggests new processes to help efficiency
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Serves as one of the department's technical experts and resources
- Serves as departmental role model by adopting CDH core values and the Firm's Five Star philosophy specifically in the areas of providing outstanding service to existing and potential clients; communicating effectively with team members and fostering a spirit of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Hires, supervises, trains, mentors and develops all levels of department staff from interns through managers
- Participates in firm-wide leadership activities including monthly and annual staff meetings, performance meetings, recruitment activities and other duties necessary to advance departmental and firm initiatives
- Meets with potential or existing external clients to develop client relationships
- Reviews tax returns and financial documents prepared by the team to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with various federal, state and local regulations
- Assists in tax planning projects and serves as the primary source of assistance for others assigned to the engagement
- Delegates and leverages work and tasks appropriately; explains purpose and goal of tasks to staff
- Manages staff and client expectations and ensures timely completion of assigned projects
- Provide tax compliance and tax advisory services to individuals, partnerships, S corporations and corporations in a variety of industries
- Researches and drafts memoranda on technical issues using regulatory and source materials utilizing electronic databases on issues that arise in tax planning and compliance process. Shares results with team members and may serve as an expert in one or more areas of the process
- Analyzes complex transactions and presents data in ways that support decision-making
- Ensures tax returns are prepared in accordance with the terms of the various governing documents and applicable federal tax and state law
Personal Responsibilities:
- Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis, along with directly educating the department
- Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise
- Take proactive career steps
- Participate in recruiting efforts as needed
- Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in accounting or related field, preferably Master's in Taxation
- Current CPA license
- Experience in maintaining client relationships
- A strong foundation and practical working knowledge of tax law
