Film Restoration Artist

JOB TITLE: Film Restoration Artist

Summary: This role will be working closely with a provider for services in physical and digital distribution of Film/TV content for home entertainment. Each month they prepare assets for DVD, Blu-ray and Digital for hundreds of titles, with in-house 16mm/35mm film scanning to complement this service. We are currently seeking for an additional team member in the restoration department using PF Clean.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for removing and/or fixing defects introduced to a film through wear and tear over a period of time.
• This process often involves removing gate weave, flicker removal, dirt and dust removal, scratch removal, grain reduction and reconstructing damaged frames.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Good, sharp eyes are essential to this role.
• A restoration artist has a solid foundation working in a digital environment (digital restoration, color correction, data management, editing)
• Must be able to detect all the various defects present in a film, and have the ability to repair damage through automated and manual processes.
• Preferably with prior experience in using Phoenix for Restoration, but also open to any Film Restoration software.
