The Medical Director will provide psychiatric leadership across various levels of care, from Detox and Residential treatment to Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP) programs, including virtual services. This role is 50% clinical in Maine and 50% administrative, with oversight of programs in New Hampshire. This position will oversee the medical efforts of our New England facilities, including The Plymouth House, Bishop Health Portland, and PineTree Recovery Center. Responsibility is broken down into roughly 50% clinical patient care and 50% administrative leadership efforts for this role.

Regional Medical Director Qualification Requirements:

  • Licensing: Must be a psychiatrist licensed to practice medicine in Maine or New Hampshire, plus the ability to become licensed in both states.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a psychiatrist treating patients with mental health and substance use disorders.

  • Completed education as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is required. Additional fellowships or education beyond residency are helpful.

  • Prior medical leadership or healthcare administration experience is required, plus the ability to effectively balance efforts on both the clinical and administrative side.

Regional Medical Director Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric leadership and oversight for addiction and mental health programs at all levels of care, from detoxification to outpatient programs.

  • Conduct clinical duties, including patient evaluations, chart reviews, patient calls, and sign-offs.

  • Lead the development and implementation of medical protocols for detox and addiction treatment programs.

  • Collaborate with the executive team to identify and implement clinical process improvements.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all treatment programs in Maine and New Hampshire.

  • Collaborate with other Regional and Corporate Medical Directors to ensure regulatory compliance and sharing of best practices.

  • Participate in program audits and ensure quality standards are maintained.

  • Engage with stakeholders, including clinical staff, patients, and families, to ensure high-quality care and communication.

Compensation and Benefits: A base salary of $250,000 to $350,000.00 per year, plus additional incentives. This is a full-time position with a full benefits package including 401K matching, insurance options (dental, vision, health), paid time off, employee assistance programs, etc.

Location: Flexible hybrid structure, including the ability to roughly work remotely while supporting facilities across Maine and New Hampshire (roughly 50% remote / 50% on-site).
