We are looking for an Assistant Daycare Director to join our team and help ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of our center.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Daycare Director will work closely with the Daycare Director to manage the daily operations of the center. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state regulations, creating and maintaining a positive environment for both children and parents, and assisting in the development and implementation of educational programs. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and has a strong passion for early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director in the overall management of the daycare center, including daily operations, staffing, and administration.
- Supervise, mentor, and support teaching staff to ensure high-quality care and education for all children.
- Help develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate educational programs and activities that promote learning and development.
- Ensure compliance with state and local regulations, health and safety standards, and licensing requirements.
- Handle parent communications and concerns, maintaining strong relationships with families and acting as a liaison between staff and parents.
- Assist with the enrollment process, including tours, interviews, and onboarding new families.
- Manage staff schedules and ensure proper coverage for all classrooms.
- Support the Director in financial management tasks, such as budgeting, invoicing, and payroll.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers to promote professional growth.
- Coordinate with external agencies and vendors as needed.
- Step in for the Director during absences or as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a licensed daycare or preschool setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of NY state daycare licensing regulations and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, staff, and parents.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and childcare management software is a plus.
