POSITION OVERVIEW
The Military Outreach & Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing two key areas: the company's Military Outreach Program and its Workforce Development/Community Giving initiatives. This hybrid role requires both strategic coordination and on-the-ground support to enhance John Deeres commitment to military hiring, workforce development, and community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Military Outreach Coordinator
- Facilitate and coordinate all military outreach and hiring initiatives for John Deere.
- Track candidate progress within SharePoint, providing regular updates on military hiring programs.
- Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the military hiring process, ensuring all steps are completed accurately.
- Provide quarterly reports to team members and maintain relationships with key military Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs).
- Coordinate company representation at military career fairs, including outreach and support for military recruitment partners.
Workforce Development & Community Giving Coordinator
- Youth Apprenticeship Program: Track and analyze participation data, using SharePoint for organization and Power BI for annual reporting.
- FIRST Grant Application Process: Review initial grant applications, assign communities, follow up with John Deere reviewers, and report on status and results.
- FIRST Mentorship Program: Partner with Inspire Site coordinators and FIRST grant reviewers to streamline mentor matching and report outcomes.
- Inspire Program Support: Plan large meetings, such as quarterly Inspire team meetings, the Inspire Executive Council, and the CSR Conference. Respond to inquiries via shared inbox, update Inspire team roles, and maintain Inspire Program resources.
- Employee Giving Programs: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on employee giving initiatives, creating support materials, and generating data for engagement reporting.
- Volunteer Event Support: Assist with unit-led volunteer events, including high-profile engagements like the John Deere Classic, handling tasks from event planning to participant support.
SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in Power BI and Excel, or a willingness to learn these and other relevant tools.
- Understanding of project management fundamentals and planning processes.
- Ability to identify and address recurring issues to streamline processes and enhance results.
- Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
- Manage purchase order (PO) requests for the Community Relations budget.
- Support unit ambassadors with training and resources, assisting with both virtual and in-person volunteer events.
