We are seeking a Materials Engineering Technician to support metallurgical examinations and evaluations in a hands-on lab environment. This 100% onsite role is based in a shop-floor lab, requiring full PPE compliance and adherence to safety protocols. The preferred schedule is first shift, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM, with some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve, document (photographs/photomicrographs), section, and prepare (mounting, polishing) parts for metallurgical analysis.
  • Conduct hardness testing, case depth evaluation, microstructure evaluation, corrosion cabinet monitoring, and report writing for low to moderately complex evaluations.
  • Follow work direction from Materials Engineering staff on section locations and testing requirements.
  • Present methods and findings to quality engineers and operations staff as needed.
  • Perform daily lab evaluations and reporting, guided by incoming work.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience and mechanical aptitude, comfortable working with lab equipment and metal specimens.
  • Strong knowledge of metals and metal processing techniques.
  • Lab experience required (any type of lab setting is acceptable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with technical report writing and data analysis.
  • Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering is highly desirable.
  • Recent graduates with relevant degrees will be considered.
