The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the identification of any unsafe conditions or unsafe work practices in the workplace, recommending measures to remedy the unsafe conditions or work practices and assisting in the implementation of measures. The candidate is also responsible for assisting in the prevention or reduction of health and environmental risks.
Analytical and observant, the candidate is required to identify and analyse risks. The candidate is also expected work with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish their objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Report WSH incidents
- Perform WSH activities to ensure personal compliance to requirements
- Suggest WSH solutions to address localised shortcomings in existing processes
- Perform safety and health risk assessment
- Determine areas of non-conformance to WSH standards
- Generate WSH investigation reports
- Perform documentation of business requirements
- Perform identification of business requirements
- Implement environmental protection policies and procedures
- Adhere to organisational procedures to reduce emissions, increaseenergy efficiency and reduce the organisations carbon footprint
- Perform sustainability activities by using processes that are non-polluting, energy and resource-saving, economically-efficient and safe for workers, communities and consumers
- Apply operational policies, standards and procedure
- Follow operational policies, standards and procedures
- Perform basic risk assessment
About You
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree with 8 years (min) experience working in a manufacturing or process plant.
- Conversant with Process Safety Management programs like MOC, PSSR, PHA, HAZOP.
- Understanding of H&S legal frameworks locally, and have the ability and resourcefulness to determine the practical application of the requirements.
- Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with enforcement officers.
- Good communication skills
- A recognised EHS qualification:
- Registered Workplace Safety Officer.
- Practising Senior Fire Safety Manager Certification
- Demonstrable continuing professional development (CPD).
