Outside Fire Sales Representative — Southern California (Field-Based / Hybrid)

Overview
A mission-driven provider of fire-service equipment and protective gear is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to support departments throughout Southern California. This organization has spent more than two decades supplying trusted wildland PPE, equipment, and solutions used by municipal agencies and wildland crews. The team is small, collaborative, and focused on building strong relationships with the professionals who protect our communities.

This role is ideal for candidates with fire-service experience or outside sales backgrounds who want a flexible, relationship-focused position that keeps them connected to the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit fire stations across San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angelos and South Orange County
  • Conduct product demonstrations and gear fittings for crews and leadership
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships
  • Collaborate with inside sales to prepare quotes and manage order follow-through
  • Attend vendor days, regional expos, and industry events
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and territory notes

Work Style

  • Hybrid/remote when not traveling in territory
  • Field travel approximately 2–3 days per week
  • Occasional overnight travel for larger events

Qualifications

  • Fire-service background strongly preferred (municipal, wildland, seasonal, or logistics)
  • Minimum 2 years of outside sales experience, preferably in PPE, industrial equipment, or public-safety sectors
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with departments and crews
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Valid California drivers license and reliable vehicle

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $70,000 (exempt) plus commissions
  • Commission: 3–5% of gross profit, paid monthly
  • On-target earnings: $90,000–$120,000+
  • Mileage reimbursement
