BIM Mechanical Modeler

Job Purpose:

• The BIM mechanical modeler will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate 3D models for mechanical systems within a BIM environment.
• The role involves collaborating with engineers, architects, and other professionals to design, model, and integrate mechanical components.
• The ideal candidate will have proficiency in mechanical modeling software and a strong understanding of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

• BIM Mechanical Modeling:
• Create, modify, and update 3D mechanical models (using Revit, AutoCAD, or other BIM software) for building projects, ensuring accurate representation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, Drainage, Domestic water, and fire protection systems.
• Ensure all mechanical elements are properly integrated into the pod model in coordination with other disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical).
• Creating all mechanical Revit families as per approved material submittal.

• Coordination & Clash Detection: I
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that mechanical systems are correctly coordinated within the BIM model.
• Perform clash detection and resolve any conflicts between mechanical systems and other
• Pod systems.

• Drawing & Documentation:
• Prepare detailed drawings and diagrams from the 3D models, including layouts, schematics, and Schedules.
• Generate and maintain BIM documentation, such as schedules, reports, and material lists, based on the mechanical model.
• Collaboration & Support:
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors, and other team members to ensure the mechanical model meets project requirements.
• Ensure that all design changes are reflected in the model, drawings, and documentation.

• Software & Tools Management:
• Utilize BIM tools and software (such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks) to produce accurate and efficient mechanical models.

Educational Requirements:

Mandatory:

• Mechanical drafting Diploma.

Experience:

Mandatory:

• +5 years of experience in BIM modeling, with a focus on mechanical systems, in the construction or engineering industry.

• Desirable:

• Familiarity with mechanical systems design and knowledge of mechanical components such as HVAC, Drainage, Domestic water, and fire protection systems is a plus.

Skills:

• Proficient in using BIM software, especially Revit and AutoCAD, for mechanical modeling.
• Creating all mechanical Revit families as per approved material submittal.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and their integration into BIM.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical design drawings, specifications, and schematics.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in model creation and documentation.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, or residential projects
• Experience with additional BIM tools such as Navisworks, BIM 360, or Dynamo is a plus.
