Who is our Client?
Our client is a is a German publicly traded company based in Berlin and a recent entrant to the Japan market.
They are looking for a Recipe Developer who will be responsible for developing a range of new, locally-tailored and innovating on existing recipes. This role is required to develop across all diet and meal preference types while maintaining specific cost and nutritional targets. You will be expected to deliver on end-to-end culinary recipe development from ideation to recipe writing. The role is highly collaborative as developers will work cross functionally with Editorial, Operations, and Brand teams to develop the best possible product.
What would you be doing?
- Develop 4-6 new recipes (from ideation to tasting) on a weekly basis maintaining product fit, cost, and nutritional targets
- Bring innovative and trend setting ideas into new recipe development by being attuned to market trends and industry competitors
- Physically test new recipes and evaluate through Culinary team panel tastings to critique and produce the best product using data driven insights
- Write recipe instructions for each recipe using standardized guidelines, focusing on ease of execution for the customer
- Utilize development tools and resources to input and track recipes through the development process
- Seek out and leverage consumer data insight to improve recipe development week on week
- Support editorial and menu activation work streams, including checking digital recipe content, recipe card proofreading, and photography briefings to their global photo studio
- Collaborate regularly with other Product team members, including Recipe Developers, Analysts, Editors, and Menu Planners
- Jump in to support any ad hoc culinary and product team projects
Who you are...
- Obsessed with food
- 2-3 years experience with Recipe or Product Development or similar experience
- experience in Japanese-consumer oriented development (Japanese cuisine, Japanese home cooking) preferred
- qualifications or working knowledge of food nutrition a plus
- Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a food-related field (ex. culinary training) to prove proficiency in the kitchen
- Collaborative and able to work cross functionally with various teams to gather key inputs, and able to work well with diverse opinions and competing priorities
- Able to take on constructive criticism and translate it into higher quality outputs
- Flexible and excited to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change
- Driven by results and firm believer in accountability
- High attention to detail and able to ensure timely execution of weekly tasks
- Are a great communicator and team player who thrives in an international team
- Native Japanese
- Business level English preferred
