A successful construction company is looking for a bookkeeper to join their talented team based in Orange County, CA. This position will assist the Controller in the financial operations of the company and must have bookkeeping experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in bookkeeping/ accounting, ideally with experience in the construction
  • industry
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Products to include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work with others
  • Ability to multitask and to set priorities
  • While performing the duties of this job, an employee is regularly required to for long periods; stand; talk  and hear both in person and by telephone; and use hands to operate, handle or feel office equipment; and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, stoop or bend and lift up to twenty-five pounds

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and enter time sheets for hourly employees
  • Setup jobs in QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Prepare and send invoices to customers weekly
  • Process Prelims & Release Waivers for customers
  • Submit request for OCIP with assistance from Controller as needed
  • Follow up with customers on payments
  • Update weekly reports i.e., backlog, job log & inventory costing
  • Monday through Friday in office

In the first 30 days expectations:

  • Familiarize yourself with the company's financial systems and procedures.
  • Establish a routine for managing daily financial transactions.
  • Build rapport with the finance team and other departments.

In the next 60 days expectations:

  • Take full ownership of the accounts receivable prelim and releases.
  • Begin preparing monthly financial statements with minimal supervision.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes.

In the following 90 days expectations:

  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and financial planning.
  • Assist in training new finance staff as needed.
  • Implement improved financial reporting mechanisms.
