Senior Transportation Project Manager
About the job Senior Transportation Project Manager
What You'll Do:
- Lead and manage transportation design projects in compliance with SCDOT, FHWA, and applicable regulatory standards
- Oversee the preparation of preliminary engineering plans, right-of-way (ROW) plans, and final construction documents
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities including surveying, traffic engineering, drainage/hydraulics, utilities, and environmental compliance
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress reporting to ensure successful and timely delivery
- Act as the primary point of contact for DOTs, counties, municipalities, and other key stakeholders
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to engineering staff and project teams
- Review and approve design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and QA/QC documentation
- Support business development initiatives, including proposal preparation and contract negotiations
- Assist with construction phase services such as responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating field activities
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, or Florida, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- 10+ years of progressive experience in roadway, bridge, and transportation design and project management
- Demonstrated success managing DOT, county, and/or municipal transportation projects from concept through PS&E
- Strong knowledge of DOT design manuals, AASHTO guidelines, MUTCD standards, and project delivery methodologies
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
