The Opportunity:
- Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role.
- Under general direction, develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems.
- May provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity.
- May be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities
- Supervises Structural Engineers (both in the US and in overseas offices) and works with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications. Is responsible for leading larger production teams and serving as the responsible charge for projects.
- Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and review of contractor submittals.
- Perform project administrative tasks, which may include any/all of the following: preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Quality Control requirements.
- Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers.
- Ability to lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values of up to $100M
- Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards. Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines. Support continuous improvement efforts. Provides guidance and direction to others.
- Implements resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program.
- Proficiency with use of non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530.
- Proficiency with use of structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
- Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
- For this position you must have a valid PE license.
