The Opportunity:
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Function as a technical Lead substation design engineer for FACTS projects involving (distribution, sub transmission and transmission level voltage classes)
- Utilize resources available for safety and regulatory standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, NERC, ISO/RTO) to effectively define project requirements, review project deliverables (physical, P&C, power system design) and collaborate with owner and OEM resources (subject matter experts, internal engineering, and project management).
- Work on other aspects of design that are non-standard for substation engineers, so the person should be willing to conduct research to locate required white papers, brochures, publications, or standards and bring themselves up to speed.
- Convey technical information to the project team, which may include stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Lead internal discussions with the owner engineering team to close out technical or project management topics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE License
- Substation Design Physical & P&C
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control of substation design projects
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on STATCOM/FACTS technology
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power electronics, and control systems
- Possess a general understanding of civil, site, system studies, settings, and telecommunication design
- Exposure to simulation and modeling software such as PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, etc.
- Experience with regulatory standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO/RTO, NEC, NERC, NESC)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
